Swiss Identity – Am I a “real” Swiss ?
What does it mean to be Swiss ?
Are some Swiss “more genuinely Swiss” than others ?
I’ve been a bit peeved from the beginning with the feeling that the Swiss born in a foreign land ( I started my life in Rio, Brasil), and who returned to live in Switzerland after spending a large portion of their childhood in a foreign country, were somehow second-hand citizens and not “real Swiss” !
I have a feeling the countries with ex-colonies take far better care, and have much more consideration for their “foreign” countrymen.
Is this true ?
What could be our role in this globalized world and in and for Switzerland ? (Les expatriés, ces visages de la mondialisation )
Here are some documents about a proposed law for the Swiss living in foreign countries – “Pour une loi sur les Suisses de l’étranger“.
Should there be a special law for the Swiss living abroad (5th Swiss – 5ième Suisse) ?
